Any millionairs in the house? coz' with todays economy, they are probably the only ones who can afford this without misalligning priorities. Are you really willing to pay this much for the power which you will seldom use? Its a very impressive car but lets keep it real now... 48,453 members...how many will actually own 1 of this in 2010? I'd say below 1%. Well, at least is gives us something to talk about.

Could you imagine if they decided the next variation of X5 won't have a ///M model.. I'd be livid.
When the economy started sliding BMW wished they can cancel the X ///M project but it was too far in R&D to cancel.

...absolutely. The Green Light was given pre-meltdown.

I would be curious to see some YTD vs LYTD sale numbers, like the poster
Fred MeLoan used to toss up. While there are lots of new E70s posted here,
I don't see the magnetic attraction continuing for lining up at the
local dlr for an $75G+ suv or, a nearly $100G suv/X6. Nice cars, maybe
overdone with cost/selling price gizmos, brutally powerful 2 1/2 ton
vehicles, but times, (at least for the moment/year) are different than
they were back in the halcyon daze of Sept 2007, imo.

Anecdotal, I drove by Asheville BMW, (formerly Fletcher BMW and a C--
dlr then, imo), the other day: they are packed with cars, front and back, outside,
and I suspect they have auctioned off anything they could.

NEway, back to enjoying the buying/leasing abilities of some of my fellow
posters.

I'm happy they didnt cancel it. These cars are amazing. It bothered me when they came out with the new X5 came out and the 4.8 wasnt like the old one (not very different or sporty). Good thing they have a sporty X5 and X6 now!

Just cause you would seldom use it doesn't mean I would seldom use it.

That's quite a broad brush stroke you paint with.

I would use those 555 hps every single time I turn that engine on !!
I'm thinking now to change my X next summer, used R8 v8 4.2 or X5M or Panamera S !

I have seen some people use ///M cars as garage queens/ weekend drive which is not what I want. Enjoy the car rather than spending time and money on modding it and paying insurance than actually driving it.

Too many here in Cali. That's why I go out on weekends, to see all the garage queens come out most of the tricked out vettes are really nice.

brocks,
Thank you very much for those sales stats!
A lil' erosion: the BMW brand, (ex Mini), is down
almost 52,000 units. Xs are taking a hit too,
though much of that is the X3 drop.
Thanks again for the info...
