Man...i've been waiting to say X5 M since my first X5 in 2003, so it sticks just fine with me...just ecstatic that it's finally here!

'Miata' was going to be dropped. It is a USA only name for the car, as the rest of the world never heard of Miata, only MX5. USA owners raised hell about dropping the Miata name here, so Mazda caved.

The project has always been called E7xM internally. But I guess you could go back to the days when the E53 was called the 'HP' when it has the 4.8is engine. HP can stand for MANY things! High Power was the correct usage.

It's probably more appropriate to call it the X5is...
Lets see,
Out accelerates the M5
Does the ring in just a few seconds less than the M3

Scares babies and Porsche owners..

I think it earned it's moniker.

Also, for the nickname, I was thinking we would type /// in all the threads..

I just thought.. It's a E70 body.. So lets call it the
M70
or the
M71 for the X6M.

There is just something wrong about putting the M on the end of the name. It's not an X5 in an M edition. (Meaning, M body work and interior)

It's an M car in the X5 variant. MX5.
So just like the M5, M3, M6.. But since we can't call it that.. Lets call it the:
M70 - The M version of the E70.

I used to think otherwise, but now I agree. You have to compare segment for segment and for SUV's, the X5 M dominates.

Now onto B-Line. I am saying this out of jealousy...you are nuts. I mean, come on. You are already getting a break from having to type X5 xDrive44i bi-turbo. Be happy.

I love it, though not a "car" if you will. X5M is fine IMHO.

K

PS Hope you get it soon!

Problem is that the X5M/MX5 already has a nickname: Miata. I suspect Porsche owners are already using it. Maybe it could be a badge of honour?

Other options would be based on the ME70, but not meso (meaning middle) or melo (as it doesn't appear to be very mellow). Maybe just the ME?

That brings up a good point...

What if we call the X5M, the MIATA..

That would actually be kind of funny.
