I think it might be the 60k a year for my education...

After all this..i'm gonna get an X5M...PREOWNED!

..i think the only reason I'm driving around in an X5 and my brother is in an 02 explorer is because i wash every single car in my house..multiple times a week. I wonder how much money ive saved my parents from having to go to car washes??

$60K/year is a bit high...should be around ~$40K...still expensive but $60K is not even Harvard territory. Study hard, plan well, dream...and an X ///M will be possible

Don't you also have an '03 Le Mans Blue M5? A 4.4i X5 and a M5 is quite good too! But being able to get a $100k vehicle at 19 seems like heaven!

I'm a lot younger than you guys, still being 2 years away from getting a license! When I get to drive though, I'll probably get my mom's 3.0i X5 and get to drive around our diesel sometimes.

hirisc... You mind sharing what kind of mileage you are seeing. I realize you are still in your break-in but curious with the type of driving you are doing what mileage you are seeing...

Also is the leather carbon trim a metal material or actually a leather/soft material? Curious as may be formulating an order.

Hi -

Mileage is a big unknown at the moment.. I'm 200 miles into the first tank.. I'll post up after I top her off. Can't imagine it will be too good

Carbon leather is leather.. it feels like leather and 'generally' looks like a tight weave carbon.

<rant>for $92K, they could have put some real carbon fiber in this thing</rant>

I like the carbon leather, but you want to know that it makes the dash pretty dark. There is a thin strip of 'aluminum' under the carbon leather placement on both the dash and the door, so that helps brighten a bit.

LMK if you have other q's.. happy to help.

understandable you haven't filled her up yet. Just wondering if you set the on dash MPG trip computer to see your running mileage per gallon rate. i think thats what its called. referring to the business computer selection button on the left steering stalk that changes the dash display between the tach and speedo.

Love your ride though, its beautiful, I think I'm leaning towrds Silverstone or silver gray on black with the aluminum trim. Was thinking of the carbon leather though but it does look dark, Worried a little that the aluminum trim might scratch easy or get too hot in the sun possibly burn the kids arms or something.

thanks for the posts though, In Seattle area the dealers here still dont have one in and are still ablout a month out so very interested in getting perceptions before placing the order.

I'll be filling her up later today, so I'll report back.. fingers crossed for double digits

I test drove a silverstone ///X5 before I bought mine. It's a nice color combo with the rims - looks better in person than in pics. Another good color IMO is space gray.. My wife's 335xi is SG and it's very rich looking.

My wife's car has the full aluminum trim package - it gets very hot and it scratches easily. The latter is why I chose to go with the carbon leather.. seems much more resistant to damage.

I just spent 2 hours giving mine a bath and a bunch of polish.. Now time to go drive around.

Good luck with your decision.. LMK if I can help further.

Chris

201 miles - 17.4 gallons = 11.55mpg

The 'instant' stalk mpg is hovering about 11.2, so it's actually pretty accurate.

In any event, I'm hoping that some additional miles and me keeping my foot in the sub 5k rpms will help get it into the mid-teens.
