i can't even compare the transition from my range rover sport to the x5...
the only painful part now is the break-in! so i can't comment on performance but general ride and ambiance are not even in the same league...this is a quality product all around

I was considering a RRSC when I bought my 4.8i earlier this year. Drove the RR for a week and then the X5 for a week. Hands down the X5 is a much better quality build product over Land Rover.

The Rover has big plastic buttons and trim everywhere. The rear seats are very small and only go half way up the back...with a headrest that sticks up two feet higher! The leather, trim, wood etc in the X5 are SO much more luxurious.

Options like comfort access, soft close doors, panorama roof, ventilated seats, etc etc are unheard of with Land Rover. The X5 I bought was 15K more than the RR yet people think the Land Rover's are more expensive and some kind of status symbol?! I personally know several clients that drive the Rovers...and they spend more time in the shop than on the road. Service at the local dealership is very poor from what I heard too.

You're right...the X5M is in a different league all together!

just to add to this...
i drove the 2010 RRSC...its still shitty inside...leather looks/feels like crap and the gear level looks like it will impale you if you lean over...wasn't impressed at all

The X's look very, very nice in both Silverstone and Space gray (and black, but that would be my last choice because I'm lazy).
