In all fairness, my situation was different. I chose not to get the ///M from a practical standpoint. The biggest issue for me was the wheels. Those bad boys won't fit in the track at the carwash. Plus I figure nothing good can come from me having 550 hp. I decided just because I could, didn't mean I should. It also helped that I refused to test drive it.
I personally think the other posters are nuts to get upside down trying to get out of a lease or taking a huge hit selling a year old X just to have it now. But that's just me. I'm a girl, I don't share the issues guys have with needing the biggest one out there ![]() I'll admit I wanted to get the first X6 off the line when my lease was up in 2008 but the timing didn't work. The 50i wasn't yet released and my options were slim. I couldn't extend that long and the cost to re-lease my E53 for one year was ridiculous. I leased my E70 for 2 years as a bridge car to get me to the 50i X6. I'm glad I waited, the X6 now has a performance upgrade that takes me from 400 to 440 horses. I would have missed that.

Being the baddest one out there. But alas it is quite fiscally irresponsible to fork out the $, especially when I'm upside down. Either way, I've always seen cars like vacations. You never get anything back from it except enjoyment. I trust me I do really enjoy them. I've already taken a "vacation" (new car) this last June, another one just four months later would be a tad excessive. Anyways, thanks for sobering me up. Love the x5, both 4.8 and M, but the M will have to wait its turn. _Tom |

To each his (or her) own...
Don't let anyone get you down. Let's be completely honest here - these guys posted to get positive reinforcement. They want to move up to the //M, I completely understand. The real question is, can they comfortably afford such a move - as long as you do not have to beg, borrow and steal to do such a thing - go for it. It will make you happy, at least for a while. It is what you want to do, right? I have to admit I am biased on this topic though - I have purchased 7 new BMW's in the past year and a half. I currently have a 1 month old 4.8 M Sport that I just purchased and placed an order for the //M yesterday - in the same color none the less. Please don't hate me for saying this - I say again, go for it with no regrets. (Yes, this is my first post here - I am a newbie from Bimmerpost).
