iPhone and the X5M

Ok, so I have this great new car...
And I paid the $$$ for the iPhone/iPod "kit". Basically $400.00 for a wire.

Guess what, it won't charge my iPhone.... So, I ask BMW about it.. it should work they say... but it doesn't... Well maybe a new wire they say, they give me a new wire..

No charging...

So, I buy the $20.00 adapter at the Apple store..

No charging...

So, I look on the EAS site, I see a wire that says it will charge the iPhone. I call them and ask... ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE it will charge my iPhone 3GS when plugged into my X5M... Yes the guy says, I have one it works fine..

I pay the $65.00 for the new "sure to work" wire..

It comes today... Guess what...

It doesn't work, no charging... (it's the same wire I already have)...

It's going back on Monday...

So, does anyone have any idea if this $400.00 option will ever work in the $80+K car?

Is there any way to get my iPhone 3GS to charge using system in the car???

Thanks;

Signed... frustrated in San Diego...
