X6 Aluminum Running Board Kit on an M

I'm a huge fan of the Aluminum Running boards that are available for the X5 & X6 Series. In fact, I like them so much, I want to remove the plain "skirts" / running boards on my X6M and put the aluminum ones on.
Does anyone know, not only if this can be done, but if it can be done so that it doesn't leave any irregular gaps or spaces in the lower body kit. I want it to look flush against the factory body kit and not as if someone jury-rigged them on.
Any advice (besides not to do it) would be appreciate.
Thanks!
