Whirring whine Sound

Is anyone experiencing this or have experienced this. It is a whine or loud whirring sound coming from the car. Mine has just over 10K miles and I don't recall this sound earlier on when it was new, but seems to be getting more prevelent. Not sure how to describe it or where its coming from other than its mechanical and from the engine area or under the drivers seating area. Sounds as if its a vacuum pump, power steering pump, turbo whine kind of sound.

I havent noticed any decrease in perfromance and the sound is fairly constant not dependent on temperature.

Any ideas?

Is this associated after driving on the interstate and then pulling up and letting the truck idle....., this happened to me recently (after 12k) and I asked the dealership to strip the front open - ended up inspecting both belts (no damage seen), I asked for both to be replaced, and the sound has not returned.

It's like a strangled whirring sound -not sure how best to describe it.

Cheers,

If it's the same sound I have, it's like a gnarling/whining sound. It goes up and down in pitch with engine rpms. It's most noticeable for me during 1-3k rpm. The noise first started on my car at around 2-3k miles. I took it to the dealer in May and they didn't really know the cause, but suspected it to be an oil pump. They supposedly lubed something or put an additive in and my service advisor said they will look into it and order the oil pump. The noise was gone after that service, but after another few thousand miles, it's been back and I've just been too busy to take it back in. I did call my service advisor in June to follow up about the part order and she said they were still investigating it.

If it's the same noise, I'm glad (but also sad) to hear that it's not just my car. When I'm driving in parking garages and/or lots it sounds horrible and is I think it is very embarrassing.

I also feel there's a small loss in power, but I can't really tell now because I've lived with it for so long and just keep it in Power mode.

///MB yeah I believe that is it. It does seem to be very loud between 1K and 3K RPM's. A guy in my car the other day asked if I had installed a transmission from a John Deere Combine. It i very noticeable in parking garages or when in a parking lot but not sure what the sound is like outside. Not any more noticeable with the wndows down. Can really hear it on the inside though...

Thanks, I suppose I should take it in....

16k miles and its really bad, mine goes in on the 22nd for that sound, creeking doors, 6cd player not working at all and something else i forgot about -im about to buy a porsche gt3 rs and forget i ever saw this truck.

the sound starts after driving in M mode when idle , if you give it gas it goes away...all of this on top of the paint 3m mess.
the dealer and i have no idea what the sound is. my other favorite sound from the M is the random giant squeal that comes and goes when breaking in reverse

Thumbs down

i just remembered, 3x now i have got a" transmission failure" notice and the car went into safe mode. i picked up my best friend from the airport and the car took a flying shit going to and from there...
i was worried the car wouldnt make it to the airport. it felt like it was going to just stop.. i turned the car off at the airport and the light went away, i hit the on ramp ( normal driving ) the message comes on,engine light goes on and i crawled back to my house embarrassed and pissed off to get the more reliable 8year old 4.6

I made an appt to take my car in Monday. I left a voicemail with my service advisor and asked her to look into the part they were supposed to have ordered in May.

I recall her saying that they had a similar problem with a 750 and it turned out to be an oil pump.

In any case, I hope they figure it out soon.
