For less then I spent on the BMW, I would have bought a SRT. Dropped it off and had a BES 426 stroker long block, added a cog driven Vortech S/C. Heavily modded the trans including converter. Added suspension upgrades, diff upgrades, exhaust updates and still be under what the X5 M cost. and I am sure it would be faster. But as far as drive quality?? The Jeep will never be a BMW
in drag race, it would not be much of a race. The jeep would be much faster.
Look at this one!!!!

Straight line performance.... hmmm.

I used to mod my vehicles. It is a never ending money pit, because every modification you make, causes some other weak link to break. And so it goes, on and on and on. And you're on your own, because the warranty is void. After a while, you have an outdated unreliable car that forces you to buy a crappier daily driver, because your supremely modified vehicle is no longer a suitable choice for everyday use. Trust me, been there, done that over and over again. The X5 M already has stupendous performance, and when something better comes along, simply trade it in for a new one. Easy. And no lost $$$ from NRE charges (non refundable engineering charges, from the "shop" that is learning about your vehicle at the expense of your pocket book).

I do like the look of the new Jeep SRT8. I think they moved in the right direction, made it more comfortable, and took the edge off. I always felt that I was on the edge of disaster in my '06 SRT8.
