X5///M

Anyone have any experience or stories of putting an X5///M up against various sports cars or the '11 Cayenne Turbo? I'm seriously pursuing an X5///M so any feedback would be appreciated.

normal vette, conv vette, tuned gto, 5.0 mustang,current m3 /m5 , jeep srt8, srt8 challenger, Cayenne(s,gts,turbo) e55amg,audi rs4, porsche cayman s, boxter spider,911 targa 4s have all lost, i cant think of anything else ive gone against that i wasnt sure about.

i was dead even with a tuned M5, oh and a nissian skylines back bumper was at my front..that got me. i knew it would i just couldnt help my self lol

Drove both...i give a slight 0-60 advantage to the X5M but the advantage to the Cayenne in the 1/4 mile and higher speeds. There's a considerable difference with the weight reduction of the new Cayenne's.

I had hopes for a TTV10 in the XM's...it's an SUV/SAV for cryin' out loud and if i wanted a lightweight experience, i hop in my sports car. Personally, i don't give a rats ass for a "lightweight SUV". I'm perfectly fine with a 5k+lbs SUV that can tow up to 7k.

With that said, aside from cost advantage, i'd still purchase the X5M and possibly have it re-tuned by none other than Steve Dinan. In the meantime, fingers and toes crossed for a V10 TT in the XM's future

On paper the x5m is comparable to the cayenne turbo but the cayenne turbo has many advantages. Air suspension, fit and finish, 8 speed makes for low rpm high torque--- same as x5, lighter than previous turbo, top of line burmester stereo, veyron has same setup, auto stop/ start. More suspension settings for track or mountain driving vs x5m.
But many base decisions on looks. Some hate x5 some hate cayenne. I like both. I love the beefier look of my current cayenne gts 2008 over both the talked about vehicles but newer technology swayed me and the cayenne turbo is remarkable.
I drove the x5 m for a week and the cayenne turbo 2011 before I opted for placing an order on a turbo cayenne. Granted fully optioned x5m is 93k and the turbo cayenne I built is 135k, but both great vehicles. More comparable price wise is the cayenne s vs the x5m.

Both are good vehicles and somewhat similar vehicles but at the same time VERY different. Different needs and wants makes one choose one over the other. Some choose performance some reliability some chose price.

I'm w/ you 100%. I am personally not into lightweight cars, and like a solid heavy truck with great tow capabilities. Love all my American Trucks the most F150, Suburban etc...So I want to make the right choice for a sporty / speedy SUV/SAV. Preferably the one which is going to compete.

I suggest you test drive both, amidst your research. It's your money...all we can do is provide personal experiences and opinions, weather biased or not.

I guess the only true advantage of the Pepper TT over the X5M is it's off road ability...but who really takes their Pepper TT off road?!
