Dinan software now online (610hp) - $3499

Who's going first?
$3499 ($2799.20 with the 20% discount that ends on Dec 31st)

Dinan Cars - Stage 1 Performance Engine Software

The Dinan Performance Engine Software safely increases turbo-boost pressure from the stock 16 to 19 psi, along with properly retuned fuel mixtures, ignition timing and full map rescaling. In fact, over 2000 lines of code have been addressed, producing substantial increases in power output while maintaining the civility and reliability expected of a Dinan performance product.

Top Speed Governor Removed. With Dinan’s software, the X will be capable of achieving its natural top speed as the governor has been removed.
And as always, Dinan matches the new car warranty coverage for up to 4 years or 50,000 miles, including the possibility of consequential damages. No one offers better performance or backs it up with such comprehensive warranty coverage.
The results of Dinan’s tuning are nothing short of breathtaking, with the added boost and related recalibration producing maximum output of 610 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 575 lb-ft torque at 3500 rpm.

Wow, very tempting... Do you think they will extend the sale? Not sure I wanna be the first to bite. lol.

Does anyone here have experience with warranty issues and getting them covered by Dinan and/or BMW? Did you have any hassles or issues?

I will also inquire about the length of the 20% discount. Many customers will not be able to take advantage of the price break because of the holiday schedule and family travel plans.

"breathtaking" and "capable of achieving its natural top speed" doesnt really help me,
what is the new top speed then? also what are the new numbers with the power increase?

its g-power or maybe this for me ....

Forget about the horsepower gain or top speed number, I want to see the shape of the power curve. Based on the graphs I've seen thus far for the other tunes on the market, the power is power/torque gains are all in the low-mid range rpm band.
Of course off the line in 1st gear you'll feel the increase, however, when it comes to rolling/passing acceleration you'll only be in the upper rpm range and will benefit very little. Check out the plot for the other unnamed tunes, then go drive your car and monitor the rpm range where you'll want to feel the power/torque increase, then review those same graphs.
Creating low-mid range power is easy on a factory turbocharged engine (most are mildly tuned/boosted in this area for drivability), however, creating additional top-end power can be very difficult, especially on an engine that's been optimized for top-end/ responsive power.
Personally, I'm very interested to see what BMW does for the new M5. I believe they'll most likely swap cam profiles, intake manifolds and possibly opt for a lower rotating assembly via engine or transmission internals. I could also see them increase power via an overboost option in the m-mode idrive system.
Regardless, I would wait to see what the more detailed tuners offer (unless Dinan truly made top-end power). Anyone can be first to market with an aggressive low/mid-range program, however, only the best will produce something that actually produces results in the quarter-mile and/or in 80-120+mph range.

Wow those guys know how to charge

I would also be interested to see the dyno graphs as somebody said most of the tunes you see have a big bang of torque either down low or up high - this does not improve the drivability.

A proper tune should have its power distributed smoothly across the range.

As for the warranty, nobody would ever have to go chasing for a claim as a remap is un-detectable. The main dealer cannot detect a remap unless they remove the chip from the ECU and send it to Bosch to be opened. - It doesn't happen.

It is a popular sales gimmick over here in Europe also with a warranty that matches the Dealers warranty. It is a gimmick.

Sorry to be so abrupt in my first day of this forum!

Aidan
