Help, I'm torn!

I've been debating an X5 M vs. a 750i xDrive M Sport (possibly a 750Li) for three months now, eliminated all the other possibilities and still can't decide.

Part of the frustration is that I am now ready to buy and can't find the colors/options I want. I drove them both again yesterday and just keep going back and forth.

Those of you with X5 M's, are you really pleased with your car? Would you buy it again? Why or why not?

Thanks!

You are talking apples and oranges. 7 series is luxury with some performance characteristics. The X5///M is performance with some utility characteristics. What do you need more? That will answer your question............Phil

Mine has been trouble free and have enjoyed driving it. Some others have had some issues with their cars so I can tell you about reliability of them considering the low number of cars in general. I would get it over 750. Now if you can wait a year, M5 would be a better choice. In general though, after owning BMW's for 20 years, I can tell you the build quality has declined noticeably. If you get the X, don't forget the comfort seats.

I understand that. It's part of my dilemma. My criteria is all wheel drive because I live in snow country and I'm very tall and long in the torso and have to fit. That eliminates all other BMW's and most anything else performance oriented.

I would add performance exhaust and possibly Dinan ECU (available soon for xDrive) to make the 7 more performance oriented.

I have the same debating between the X6M and 750I M-pkg before as well. I end up going with the X6M for the following reasons. X6M = more fun to the driver, and 7er = more fun to the passenger; X6M = better winter drive due to higher body, 7er might get stuck with over 30cm snowfall. Last but not least, I think the X6M should hold up better re-sale value than the flagship 7 series

I haven't considered the X6 M, so I can't comment on that vehicle's resale value. The 7 and the X5 M will be very close, but if you use BMW's 36 month lease residual values for comparison, the 7 is slightly better resale, but only by three or 4 percentage points.

The 7 is great, but for overall driver satisfaction it will not compare to the X5m.
The X5m is the best vehicle I have ever owned and I have absolutely no regrets & would buy it again in a heartbeat. You will love it.
