The E63 is already faster. Look at the trap speeds. The drag radials would make it quicker. and I am not talking a Hoosier or Mickey DR. I am talking Nitto 555 R.
They make them in the exact size for the E. and they handle great.

I could easily buy a sports cars. but that is not me. I like the wolf in sheep's clothing type of cars. The family sedan and the soccer mom SUV.LOL
That is why I bought the E and that is why I bought the X5 M

I was thinking of dumping the E when I got the X5. But I think I might keep it??
The only cars I would replace it with are the yet to be released M5 with twin turbos. or the 2012 E63 with twin turbos

Yes the E63 is faster on the top end, but the X5 is faster to 60 and probably to 100, too. Where do you do most of your driving? You can put drag radials on an E63...you can put offroad tires on it, too. Just remember that drag radials have some downsides that will make it tougher to drive on the street...they are terrible in rain, and you can't drive them in cold weather. Of course you can afford a sports car...I didn't say you couldn't.

I never drive the E in rain or bad weather. It sits all winter. I drove it once in the rain and it is all over the place. that is why I always have a SUV as well.
The x5 was bought to replace my QX. The X5 was suppose to be a new winter/bad weather/bowhunting vehicle. But I was really enjoying, driving it daily.
So I was just thinking of selling my E. But after last night/this morning, I am reconsidering it. I was just wishing it would hook like the X5, but with real wheel drive, the only hope is some sticky sneakers.

The Nittos DRs drive like regular summer tires. Granted they do not hook as well as a M/T DR or a Hoosier DR. Both which are not very streetable. the Nittos have full tread depth as well. They handle great and they hook in a straight line alot better then a Contisport, Michilen Pilot or any other hard compound summer tire. I had them on my 700HP 03 Cobra

and at first look, you would never think it was a DR. At out loacal tracks, we have alot of older E55 racing. They all have drag radials on stock wheels. A few have custom Champions wheels. But they all use DR and at first glance, you would never know.(wolf in sheep's clothing)
Sports cars just do not do it for me. they look fast, so they better be fast.
I like the sleepers. maybe it is the grudgeracer in me?

I hear you on the Contisports...I have those on my Vantage...good tires but I can't get them off the line cleanly. Once things get rolling they are just fine, but first gear is useless if I'm too hard on the throttle. My best runs have actually been with starting in 2nd gear.

Another option for the X5 is the Dinan chip...610 hp and full warranty. Top end on this car is never going to be as good as a sports car or even a powerful sedan...not even just power to weight but aerodynamics and drag. It's tough to cut through the air at 150 mph with such a large frontal area. But for its size, weight, and utility, the performance is shockingly good.

I'm ditching the run flats on the X5 this week...I bet regular tires are good for at least 2 tenths of a second improvement in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile...we'll see.

I would love to hear your results for the regular tires.
I decided to drive my runflat through the summer and fall. Then i will buy a set of the Contis. do an advanced exchange for a set of powder coated wheels. and have a local shop do the tire install/balancing. i wonder how the powder coated wheels will hold up through a Jersey winter??

Links aren't working but I searched on YouTube to see them. Nice videos. The guy in the scud looked like he fell asleep for 5 seconds and forgot to go. The times for both of the X's in the videos are great, but the trap speeds are really not great...12.3@110? 11.76@115? I'd expect higher trap speeds in both cases given the HP. The drag really seems to catch up with them on the top end.

These trucks do seem to hit a wall. maybe it is also drag from the AWD?

I remember years ago, my buddy bought a new Syclone S10. It used to run twelves with just a few bolt ons. But with no MPH.
