Hard to shoot video solo. and adding a passenger adds weight.

I need to pick up a goPro and mount

Those are impressive numbers: shaved off close to a minute on 0-60 from the road test numbers I have seen around.

How tough is it to flash the tune? Have u noticed any untoward effects on the vehicle or difference in its ride? Just weary if the process is complicated and the factory warranty void issue

I know this is a taboo to ask: but has the fuel consumption increased significantly since the tune?

if you have a battery charger, the install is easy. The instructions are a little confusing at times. The screen shots you follow are not exact sometimes. But you basically click a button to accept a few items and let it sit and load and unload. It is time consuming, but very easy.
and as long as you can turn accessory on, you can reflash

The vehicle runs pretty much exactly the same in regular mode. Click the lever over to sport and it is a different animal.

I mentioned the Limp Home Mode the other day. But I shut her off and when I refired, it was gone and I drove the truck alot after that and no issues. I have to say the software is safe. I cannot determine if it is hurting the rings and pistons tops with all the extra boost. But i think the BMW adpative system keeps a pretty good watch on lean conditions. If one were to appear, i think it will pop right into Limp Home.

Gas Mileage??? I have no clue. i just add gas when it needs it. I used to have a 2010 QX56, so I am not that concerned. Personally in regular mode, it is probably the same.
The factory tune runs really rich. I bet A/F is in the 12-1 range!!!
My tailpipes used to have alot of carbon all the time. It seems less now.
So with regular driving mileage can hypothetically improve???

I highly recommend the ESS. For 2k, you cant beat it. I still want someone to get a Dinan tune and see how it runs. I am willing to bet, it would be similar to the killer Renntech Tune.

Do you have a scanner or anything to clear the error ? Is the ess unit able to read and clear errors ? It would be better if you could download the data and send to ess to see what caused the limp mode. I personally would be worried about it and looking to diagnose.

i do not think a scanner will pick it up. There is NO check engine light. There are no warning lights at all???

I am sure the dealer can pull up the problem. But I am not concerned. It seems alot of people were having problems with this. There is a thread about it.

If it happens again, I will yank the tune and drop it off at the stealer

The flash is very easy. You do need a high quality battery charger. Do not skimp here. No trickle charger. I bought one for $100. Worth it. The directions suck and need to be updated. I let ESS know. Not sure what they are going to do about it. I bought my upgrade from IND. So when I went to put it on, I did it during their business hours. If I had any question, I called to make sure I was doing it correctly. Great service from both IND and ESS.

The power comes on much sooner. I do notice a few little things. For example, taking of from a standstill. At a light and coming off the brake to the gas. Sometimes the truck has a little jump. Never happened with stock tune. Happens only rarely with ESS tune and does not bother me. But I had someone in the car a couple of times and they commented on it.

Fuel consumption seems to have dropped about 1 mpg. This is very unscientific. I happened to notice the mpg before the tune and after. I maybe driving it harder now with the tune so take it for what it is worth.

I am not terribly concerned about reliability. I feel that if you have the tune and are driving the truck like normal you will not have an issue. Normal is on public roads and dipping into full throttle periodically. Now if you are tracking the truck and pounding the snot out of it. Then there may be more of a concern.

If you do go with GoPro, get the HD. I have one of the older ones and it is OK but the HD version is MUCH better.
