This is true.
The new AMG looks retarded, I would go with cayenne if I had to trade it in.

You know, I've long been a fan of Porsche and will most likely be such, but the price of their service seems absurd.

A friend of mine owned 2008 911 Turbo, and he said that every service seems like he left a grand at the dealer, so it's a very expensive "warranty".
He just got rid of it because his warranty was running out and he said it needed brakes changed and sparkplugs replaced. Just the sparkplug replacement was going to be 1400$!

I reckon if I pay so much for the car and then they still charge so much for the service, it would be more aggravating than anything, to me personally.
So now, I'm somewhat hesitant about the 911 turbo.

Imagine then how much Porsche costs without a warranty!

I think with BMW at least offering the 4yr/50k or 6yr/100k free maintenance is a great plus and a benefit.

All of these cars are very expensive and equally good in their own way. So it really comes down to preference be it X5M, ML63 AMG, or Cayenne Turbo, but the fact that we won't have to pay for maintenance for the X5M, I believe, is a huge bonus!

So there is a dilemma!

Don't get me wrong. I love this truck. The way it looks, drives, handles just about everything with it. I know other cars have issues. I have owned more than my fair share. Which I guess is why I am bothered. How can my wife's $40k car not have an issue. Nothing. And I am in the BMW dealership so often that I know more personal info about my service rep than I know about some of my neighbors.

OK, the rear camera was annoying. Three time in the shop for days at a time. They had to replace the wiring harness which involved removing half of the interior. Now everything creaks and squeaks. I had them fix the that only to have the automatic rear door stop working. So they have to open it up. Everything is creaking and squeaking again.

The things that make me nervous are things like broken vacuum hoses and turbo coolant lines. These parts should not fail and if they do their should be a design change. I am getting flash backs of my 3rd gen RX-7. Where the cars would collapse vacuum hose on a monthly basis. All the while Mazda said there was no issue.

I don't know. Maybe I am just pissy. Once I get it back and hammer it though a clover leaf I will forget all about it.

Definately frustrating, as one wouldn't expect these issues with a car that costs 100k.

I guess, unfortunately, it happens to any car/make/model.

Maybe your dealer can put in you in a brand new X5M with a good discount or somehow ease the pain of constant servicing.
