Definately frustrating, as one wouldn't expect these issues with a car that costs 100k.

I guess, unfortunately, it happens to any car/make/model.

Maybe your dealer can put in you in a brand new X5M with a good discount or somehow ease the pain of constant servicing.

I truly believe the dealer will do nothing. Not really their issue. I am not looking to get a new truck. Just a little reassurance that 4 miles after the warranty is up I am dealing with a bunch of issues. I believe an extended warranty is around $2,500. Not sure how much mark up there is from the dealer. Maybe they would let it go at cost. Or BMW steps up and offers it at a discount. I am not holding my breath.

You can shop around for extended warranty and maintenance. few here have done with BMW of Macon. There are few threads on extended Warranty and extended maintenance. This is one of the major ones. -> http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...e-pricing.html

Interesting. Burning coolant smell is why I toom mine in last time. Leaking turbo coolant hose.

Would you find out what they replaced? I would be very interested it was a coolant hose to the turbo.

I too have had my share of hose and line issues.
My latest annoyance is an advanced case of Dementia in the Climate Control system.
On Auto it makes the car significantly warmer when you dial the temperature down.
I will hit 50K around this time next year. Anyone know if there will be a revamped X5M available then? Will certainly look at the MB and Porsche alternatives, but BMW seems to get the Performance v. Cost ratio a little more right than the others.

I have recently noticed this coolant smell on mine. I notice it at start up in the morning. Is this when you guys have noticed it? I dont see any fluid on the garage floor so must be a small leak evaporating or being completely cooked off.

No coolant on the floor. The lead was from both ends of the coolant hose going to a turbo. The smell occurred after you drive it for a while. I would pull it in the garage and it would smell.
