Active Ventilated Seat Package - is it really worth it?
I've read in posts that people swear by this option. But I'm just wondering is it really worth the extra money? The Active Ventilated Seat Package is $1,900 but it requires you to also pay for Perforated Full Merino Leather at $3,800, so all inclusive this "upgraded seat" option is $5,700 extra! I live in San Diego, so I really don't need the heated/cooled seat feature like probably those in other areas of the country with harsh winters and humid summers. If the standard seats in the X5M are like the standard seats in my '02 M3, I think I would be just fine. But I wanted to hear from you all, why is it worth paying $5,700 extra for the "upgraded seats"? Thanks! Last edited by YolkyPalky; 01-17-2012 at 08:24 PM. |

BMW has made it impossible to get the comfort seats without the ventilated seat option which I find useless as well. Having said that, the comfort seats are significantly better than standard seats which are pretty meh at best. You do get get full leather interior as part of 5700 which is pretty nice.

I love the comfort seats as well as the full leather interior. I only with it came with the alcantara headliner too. But yes, the active ventilated seats barely do anything. I usually turn them on and it helps a tiny bit. But if your car was sitting out in the sun, then it doesn't really cool the seats down at all.
The ventilated seats on our S-class are just as disappointing. The ones that GM's come with actually COOL the seats and they get cold.

I would pass. I don't use my ventilation or massager at all.

Living in Tennessee I turn Coolnig seats on if taking a trip, It takes a while to cool down. Definetely think massager helps in trips over 3 hrs. Glad I've got them both, though the heated seats are used much more often.

i havent spent much time in the standard seats but i do believe that the upgraded seats are much more comfortable than the standard ones. the active ventilated feature and massage gets rarely used but i am happy with the option overall.

Absolutely worth it. If you've ever had a sweaty back from a long drive or whatever, this cures it. Awesome feature IMO.

Aside from the ventilated/massage seats, u need this package to get the 20way adjustable seats with the adjustable bolsters etc.. I think this should be a standard feature.
