Since one cannot see much underneath all that camo what's there to discuss?

The next gen X5M needs to incorporate a lot of fuel saving measures (like that on M5) to bump up the mileage. Not that it's a deal breaker, but surely would look better for the car. Especially that cayenne turbo gets 15/24mpg (i think).
Another thing on my wish list for next X5M is a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Also the HUD needs to be updated. Rear entertainment system got to go! It looks unfit for this car. People chime in on what the wishes and wants for the next model. I am sure the BMW reads these forums and listens to the customer so it would be good for them to know our wishes. ![]() |

In that last shot of the rear end it kinda looks like a Cayenne at a glance..
Anyhow, this is cool! Some of the articles I have read about the next gen X5 suggested that the F15 may see the end of the XM's due to efficiency (or lack of) ... I guess not! I'm fairly eager to see this new model revealed.. they do a pretty good job of making them look ordinary with all that camouflage.

This X5 M will be lot lighter than E70 based X5 M.....lot of CFRP in use, now that BMW has stronger relation with SGL group.
Better fuel consumption Auto Start-stop function New Head-up Display, which can be programmed to work with M Drive buttons M-carbon Ceramic brakes as Option Probably 8-speed M DCT ![]() |

I'm hoping for an improvement in all of the things listed above except that I am not sure that the carbon ceramic brakes will be worth it. I went with a new ML63 after two X5's because I could get equivalent power with an impressive exhaust note and a similar handling experience with better efficiency and a nicer interior. The ML63 is rated 14/18 with a 7 speed transmission but does better as long as I don't flog the pedal. The stop/start system works pretty well and seems to improve gas mileage especially since I mostly drive in the city. On the other hand, the ML63's steering is lighter than I am used to. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves.

The orginal article that I read, speculated that the engine would be the same as the one in the new M5 (S63Tu from the new M5/M6 vs the s63 that the present generation uses) and also the M version of the F15 X5 will show up earlier than the usual wait time after a new model is released.....
There was also mention that the front grills will be bigger and that the front headlights will blend into the grills like the new 3 series. Anyways interesting to follow its progress.. ![]() |

I will not be surprised if they introduced a new engine, rather than S63 Tü, as S63 Tü will be few years old by the time X5 M and the next X6 M will be released. Next X6 M will again share the same engine as F10 X5 M. |
