What were the symptoms? Mine has had the recall done but lately I can smell a mix between coolant and what smells like that burnt electrical/plastic smell. I get steam/smoke coming from the turbo area after long hi way drives. It also uses a bit of coolant...I don't get any error codes though. I am off warranty so I am a little nervous about it and I took it to my independent shop and they are hoping to have a look in January.

that describes it to a T

BUT - BMW USA, my dealer and I (they let me get involved based on DIY reputation) and we found that when the AC is on condensation forms on the AC lines and drip directly onto the right DP/cat (causing steam - that could be mistaken for smoke)

which cooling system are you adding coolant? The main system or the secondary turbo cooling system?

You shouldn't get a code for this issue unless the pump fails 100%

If you or the independent pull the harness for the 2ndary pump and there is any sign of melt - then have them/you purchase the 2nd updated pump and harness

the pump(s) for the engine are pricey

The AC has never been on when this happens. The main system seems to use coolant but the secondary system was also a little low when I checked it.

Looking to get another X5m. Any factory rebates/dealer cash on remaining '13s?
