I did that once. Ok, if it does not rain. Problem was when it rained along the way the blue tape started to peel off. At that point you can't even put the tape again, because the car is either too dirty or wet or both. I saw one tiny chip by grille where I could see bare metal and it ruined my day.

Or take delivery at PCD(for the experience) and then get it transported home

...I know it takes the fun out off a long drive back home in a new car from SC. But if u dont have the time to get it done prior to the drive or u want to get the Clear Bra installed at some place U are familiar with closer to home..

1+ on LeMans comment about not driving it around for any appreciable distance without the clear bra....

Look at the pic below for coverage. This is the minimum you need. Red areas are worst hit. I cover the A-pillars and rearview mirror caps too as well as door edges and gas tank, and lower rear bumper. Some had to get their X ///M repainted as its bad. You don't to bring home looking like bottom pic.

Don't worry about what's on Xpel website. Call the guy I linked above, or your local guy and tell him what areas you want covered and get a quote. .

that is some serious paint damage without the protection.

How long does it last and if it needs to be replaced within 5 years, will a local dealer do it under warranty?

If you take the film off, it won't damage the paint underneath, right?

It all depends what kind of roads you drive. But just the design of X5M fenders, etc. makes the fender flares as damage prone area.
I have read in threads here that some had to replace the fender flares areas after 18 months. But I have on my of my cars for 7 years going strong.
Others can add more...

No, if a professional removes it. It never damages paint. If you do not know how to remove then the glue residue is left, that's all.

Ok, so looking over different coverage options, here is what i'm considering getting:

1. Hood, fender and mirror kit (30 inch bikini)

2. Bumper kit with side view camera

3. Rocker panel kit

4. Rear wheel impact area and fender flare kit

Do I really need the A pillar and roof kit?

Am I missing anything else?
