Engine Noise

Guys, just bought a 2010 with high miles. Im noticing some odd engine noise when I drive it MELLOW. (Maybe thats the problem hehe).

Just when you go off idle you here low level ticky/belt type noise. Let off, go to idle, gone. Hit it a bit harder, kinda goes away the more you get on it.

I know these engines are a bit ticky anyway, all newer BMW's seem to be. So am I over reacting?

Or is this odd...Belt tensioner? Previous owner did at 30K mi.

I see others have already posted, but if you recognized above symptoms, post a link.

I've got 37,000 miles on my X5M. Have noticed same noise. Dealer thinks its from Fuel injector, but hasn't offered a fix. I imagine the noise is there but when driver harder the engine noise masks it.

UPDATE Blowing Smoke

OK, after about 12 months and 10000 miles, she's dead in the driveway. She's at 80K.

Had a few funky starts, where if runs rough, goes into safety mode.
Restart, and all was fine.

Sunday it just ran terrible, blew smoke, limp mode, running on 3 cylinders.

UPDATE: Injector failed kept pumping fuel, in run around the block, hydro-locked the engine and bent connecting rod on cylinder #8.

New Engine time. Anyone want to buy a X5M cheap..?
