Great thread... You mention discarding the vehicles built in 2009?? I'm a little confused by this. I have a very early build... In fact, I started a thread on another forum for users to post the last 7 of their VIN and build date so we can see who has the newest/oldest of the model... Maybe I should do that here.

Nevermind, I see you said the 4 vehicles made in 2009, but what you mean is the 4 made for model year 2009, which were built in 2008...

Yes indeed. I'm talking about MY (Model Year)

The first one should be LK25000 which gives a production date of 07/31/2008

Yeah I got it... I just read it too fast to begin with. I'm LK25272... Pretty early.

Hehe yes indeed
I've dug a bit further.

Seems like LK25031 is the first one of the standard production on July 06th 2009 for the USA and LK25035 on June 15th 2009 for Canada. Those don't carry weird pre production codes like 998 startup control or 997 dealer presentation

Curious what X5M owners think about quality or # of issues between 2010 & 2013 years.

It's been my impression with these and other high end vehicles that later years in the model run are more stable and have fewer issues.

My 06 is the last year of the E53 and it's been solid - until the magic 70k mile mark.

Finally, is anyone happy with aftermarket warranties for X5M's? Someone once said M vehicles are very hard to get extended warranties for.

My bumper to bumper to 100k with $0 deductible aftermarket warranty has been a huge benefit.

I ask because the 2013 X5M is the potential replacement to my 06 4.8is some day.

Thanks in advance!

I can only speak for MY2013. Now up to 22 000 km, nothing has broken. I only have an uneven wear on the tires both rear and front and some cosmetic touch ups. I've already done 2 oil changes, one at 7 000 km for which I paid for and one at 20 000 km. I had to put 1 quart at 15 000 km.

Working as advertised except for some minor fixable details like the 12 volt plug going off after 30 minutes or an Idrive display bug after starting the vehicule.

Also, you have to live with the sandblasting of the lower rocker panels if you live up north.

See here if you want the complete list.

At the moment, I'm pretty happy with the car.

Thanks

Any other X5M owners willing to share their experiences on quality or repairs?
