Ok, here's an article about installing ACS pedals in an X5:

Here's the "before:" ![]() The X5 article does a great job of describing the necessary work. The main problem I ran into with the dead pedal was drilling the holes and putting in the screws for the top two screws. There is very little clearance between the bottom of the kick panel and the top of the pedal. I even removed the panel (three philips screws and a plastic button/screw), but it didn't help much. Consequently, my top two screws aren't in as straight as I'd like, but they're passable. As the article states, all you need to do is drill into plastic, so easy day there. The article mentions being able to remove the pedal, but I didn't see how (and didn't care to anyway...). This pedal attaches with screws, while the other two attach with nuts/bolts. Here's the "after:" (Sorry about the flash glare) ![]() Ok, the brake pedal is going to be your most difficult task. As stated in the article, the rubber cover on the pedal comes off quite easily. Now for the hard part: drilling through the metal pedal. I held up the new pedal, marked my hole positions (used one of the screws to scratch the positions), and then broke out the drill! It took some effort (duh), but it wasn't too bad. I was a little concerned that one of the holes (top right) was closer than I liked to the edge of the pedal even after making very sure that things were lined up right. After drilling though, there were no problems, so wasted worry there. Here's the post-drilling pic: (Again, sorry for the glare) ![]() And here's a picture of both pedals installed: ![]() The gas pedal is similar to the brake pedal, but easier because you're drilling through plastic vice metal. Line it up, mark you holes, and drill away! The biggest problem I ran into was putting in the bottom right nut and bolt. I had a HELL of a time getting the washer and nut on the back, but I finally got it. Here's the gas pedal installed: ![]() Here's the finished install: ![]() The final issue was attempting to cut off the excess of the bolts on the back. There seemed to be a lot of excess, so I wanted to cut them off. Problem is I don't have a very extensive tool kit, so I didn't have anything small enough to work in that confined space. Other than a few (easily manageable issues), it went smoothly. Jump in and try it yourself!
