The fuel filter is not under the vehicle. This is a 2008 x3.

Sorry about that I hit the wrong button. If your 2008 is the same as the 2007 This may be of better help

I am not looking for directions on how to replace the filter. I actually have that link bookmarked for doing the job. I am very specifically trying to figure out the location of the filter. Right now, that is all i need to know. Where is it? I cannot find it in the tank on driver's side. I have read multiple forums before registering here because I simply am at my wits end. Dealership doesn't have an answer either. I cannot find a forum, web page, or any link anywhere that is specific to my 2008 X3. I am going to check the passenger's side access panel, but I am skeptical and did not want to get into unplugging the fuel pump if not necessary to access the filter.

If you have the instructions then you know there are actually two tanks. Here's the parts view. Fuel FILTER/PUMP/FUEL level sensor
I believe one side has a Delivery unit with in-tank pump and the other side has the fuel filter and pump I don't know for sure. ![]() Note this faint diagram there are two holes in the tank where parts are installed. If you've removed and inspected one side of the tank then how about "carefully" checking the other side. BMW 07 10 x3 Fuel Filter 16147186454 | eBay Here's a better view.
