First get the fault codes read, these will point to any issues.
Take look at www.realoem.com enter the lsat 7 digits of your VIN code, then you can look up the part numbers for your vehicle. 2007 was when BMW did a facelift but not sure when it came in. |

Your power band drop at or over 2500rpm reads similar to what I have been living with..
I have a '08 3.0d E83........ The main attribute that has affected the car is the fouling or clogging of the Diesel Particulate (second) exhaust filter under middle of the car. I have had the DPF out twice to clean it out with hose water (I appreciate this is not a long term solution) and it makes a huge difference to the revs (over 4500 rpm) and power band. I also have found (and replaced) the DPF temperature probe was open circuit - the ECU would not engage the regenerative burn as there was no temperature reading to inform the ECU of the right temperature conditions. I think I still have a prominent issue of the DPF fouling with a possible oil consumption issue.....oil in the intake......and sooting up the exhaust more tha usual....... I'm still looking into an alternative step to take for the DPF clean...... |

Have you replaced the MAF?
A failed maf gives exactly the problem you describe. |

Hi there ..Just to up date ...I did a full service .replacing all filters ..it appeared that even though the vehicle has a full service history the fuel filter looked to be original factory fit .also the oil filter/canister was so clogged it had collapsed inwards on it self.I also removed the MAF and used CRC air sensor clean ..also stripped off the egr and using some petrol and old tooth brush i gave it a thorough clean ..this was all carried out by myself .I used a code reader and done a regen on the particulate filter also used a fuel injector cleaner .the car has run to perfection ever since ..I do have a slight problem on starting when the temperature drops but only on the initial start up so i will be changing the heater plugs this weekend .thanks to all that offered advise .
