I actually got a start on the mirror problem. Keep in mind I am working on X5 mirrors but the problem seems to be the connection to conductor grid which is riveted and the grid appears to be very, very thin and delicate aluminum foil embedded in a really tough plastic! ;( Not sure how I am going to get contact to the foil but am trying a few things and will post an update what I find out.

Wicked! Let me know. If you got any pics that would be sweet.

I know your working on the X5 but I am betting that the mirror assembly is quite similar between the X3 and X5, with probably just the mirror glass varying in physical size.
