First off, as a new user hello to everyone!
Lemme get straight to the point. I'm looking at buying a 2007 X3 for a steal. As far as I'm aware all of the important/expensive maintenance work has been done already. The car only needs front right wheel bearing, which I can do myself easily since I have access to all the necessary tools including a press.
The main issue however is that the moonroof is shattered. While the current owner was driving on the highway, the front panel flew off the car and shattered. The cassette itself is currently broken along with the car needing a new glass.
Since I only plan to keep this car for 6-12 months all I care about is sealing the gaping hole above my head. What I'm wondering is, would it be possible to replace the glass and reuse the broken hardware. Basically mount the glass in closed position seal it shut for the foreseeable future.
If anyone has attempted anything similar let me know, all feedback is appreciated.
Also yes I've tried searching and only found instructions on how to replace the actuators, not the whole assembly.
