It could be a speed sensor.

Went to the dealer today and the car was connected to diagnostics with the faults as shown to the picture.About the problem of the thread the mechanic said most probably is the x drive actuator which must be replaced with a cost of 800 euros.
There is a problem also with the Vanos system which means a cost of 2.500 euros lol.
The window button of the front right side isnt working properly and will be replaced soon.-

This could be your motor fix, if you have the tools and knowledge. do it and save you a couple of hundreds.

vanos is easy low skill diy - $50-ish for parts on ebay - no need to buy overpriced labor and parts at dealer.

xdrive is really there for transferring rotational power to front wheels - you could just drive it as a rear wheel car. if the plastic gear replacement didn't fix the problem you need a transfer case replacement - there is a guy in LA that will sell you a reconditioned transfer case for cheaps - look for the tcbmwx5 (as in transfer case for bmw x5) on ebay - he builds custom gear mechanism for inside the OEM case that last longer then two oil changes that the OEM ones seems to be made for. dont forget to reset oil wear sensor adaptations after install.
