No movement in forward or reverse auto tranny

2007 3.0 si.
Heard a pop when taking off and engine just revs in any gear. Selector moves lever on tranny about 3/4" - 1". Does that that amount sound correct?

No codes for tranny stored in computer. No lights on dash.

I am guessing the plastic valve selector is broken in tranny. https://blog.bavauto.com/16677/bmw-a...2-e83-ga6l45r/

Anyone have any other suggestions? No issues before this.was running great. Does selector movement sounds within normal?

Very common problem I’ve done maybe 5 the valve rod broke inside your valve body 100% positive of that with your info given of no trans codes. It’s not hard to do

Here’s the part

Thanks. I am going to get it into the garage and pull the tranny pan. (Weather calls for -11f tomorrow night... Sigh). Any issues to be aware of when pulling the pan and valve body? The repair looks pretty simple.

The only thing that’s a little funky is the plastic sleeve for the transmission plug. You push a lever up to lock it in place and it has to be perfectly aligned or it won’t go into place, not hard just a pain to do

Confirmed the issue. Odd was the broken plastic piece.

I was going to change the sealing sleve and some other seals. Did you change any seals? What does the white lever release exactly?

Mine would not go into REVERSE. Took it to my local Indy. $400 out the door, fixed. Common issue. Replacement part is identical so it will fail again. Got 145k miles from original part.
