Tail light appears to have a bad ground. Anyone else had this?

2004 3.0 sport pkg. My right rear tail light goes dim, and then completely out from time to time,.....next day its fine. Wondering if this is a common problem with a known fix.

There are some well known issues with the electrical traces in these lights. Removing the light housing is easy through the trunk. Take out the light bulb that is going dim and inspect the contacts of the bulb holder and the contact points on the electrical traces of the light housing. You will probably see some black racing marks and could even see melted traces. This has been documented on here before.

Everyone's experience is different but the out-come is usually the same. As Flatlander pointed out."Inspect the contacts of the bulb holder and the contact points on the electrical traces of the light housing. You will probably see some black racing marks and could even see melted traces" After you do that a number of times perhaps you'll get tired like I did and order a new taillight assembly. It installs on the drivers side in about 30 minutes. The other side a little longer. Sometime getting rid of aggravation is worth the money.
