I would look up the procedure for putting in a trailer hitch. ON the X5, you have to remove the bumper to do the hitch, so you could leverage those directions. I would think the X3 is similar and look for directions on putting a tow kit on the X3. Good luck and sorry about the X

Thanks for the information. The damage isn't that big a deal, but what really ticked me off was the way the perp acted- like it was no big deal and that I was nuts for wanting to get it fixed.
