Left side buttons on my steering wheel are not working

I have a 2004 X3 2.5 and the buttons on the left side of the wheel are not working / no lights. The right side all work just fine. Any idea? I would think if bad fuse, it would affect all buttons.

Thanks for any input.

If that's happening, especially along with a scraping type of noise, it's probably the "clock spring" which all the connections go through to allow the steering wheel to turn. I've never had the steering wheel off the E83 but I think that might be your next step.

I don't have the scraping noise when turning. Well, if it involves removing the airbag or the steering wheel, then I can live with them not functioning. It's mostly radio controls anyway.

Thanks.

If it's only the radio there is still a chance it could be something else but likely you are going to need some wiring diagrams and do some diagnostics (maybe take off the steering wheel) to check further. Maybe there is some common problem that someone else can chime in on but I don't know of one.

Id vote...clock spring...must take off steering wheel (easy)...one of the 2? Connections have somehow disconnected.
Are you new to the car?
