Wishlist for new X3

What features/options would you like to see in the next X3? Here's a list of mine.

Engines
  • Latest I6s found in 3 series
  • Diesel I6
  • 335 Biturbo engine (maybe for an IS model)
Interior
  • Ambient light sensing navigation. Based on light it will determine brightness
  • Touch-Screen Nav. I'm not sold on I-drive.
  • Heads Up Display option
  • Adaptive Cruise option
  • Better plastics. The dash and other plastics seem cheap
  • Better cup holders.
  • More center storage
  • Aux input standard. Ipod adapter avail no matter which options you have
  • Heated and cooled seats option
  • Rear heated seats option
Exterior
  • Rear rain sensing wiper option
  • Bi-xenons
  • LED rear lights
  • Better sound proofing. Wind noise is quite prevalent.
  • Comfort Access standard. Keyfob without it is stupid.
Misc
  • Offer a sport focused IS model similiar to the 4.8is
  • Continue to offer manual. SMG as an option.
That's all I have for now. What would you wish for?

Engines
  • Latest I6s found in 3 series
    - Refreshed X3's coming out later this year or early next.
  • Diesel I6
    - X5 is for sure getting a diesel in the states for the E70. Not so sure about the refreshed X3.
  • 335 Biturbo engine (maybe for an IS model)
- We'll have to wait and see on this one.

Interior
  • Ambient light sensing navigation. Based on light it will determine brightness
    - Our navs are supposed to do this. Thats what the little dot to the right of the screen is supposed to measure...
  • Touch-Screen Nav. I'm not sold on I-drive.
    - Won't happen. iDrive isn't hard. I'd trade in the screen placement of an iDrive screen (up high & covered) versus a lower closer touchscreen.
  • Heads Up Display option
    - Will happen on the new E90 derived X3.
  • Adaptive Cruise option
    - Again, from the E90 derived X3.
  • Better plastics. The dash and other plastics seem cheap
    - Refresh is supposed to rectify the interior.
  • Better cup holders.
    - Ahh, well Bavaria doens't like cupholders... your on your own here
  • More center storage
    - Can't comment.
  • Aux input standard. Ipod adapter avail no matter which options you have
    - E90 has it standard, so the next gen X3 will have it. iPod adapter will probably always be an option. BMW likes making $$!
  • Heated and cooled seats option
    - E90 doesn't have cooling seats, but since its based on the same electronics as the E60 there is no reason for it not to have them. I think the E90 will get them in it's refresh, which means we can expect them far far into the lifespan of the next-gen X3.
  • Rear heated seats option
- Not going to happen in the next X3, as the E90 doesn't offer this. What will happen is that rear passengers will get air vents.

Exterior
  • Rear rain sensing wiper option
    - Won't happen for a while. Problem is that SUV/wagon style cars pick up crap onto the rear screen making it hard for a sensor to work.
  • Bi-xenons
    - We have this already (bi-xenon & swiveling!)! Well as an option at least.
  • LED rear lights
    - Refresh will take care of this.
  • Better sound proofing. Wind noise is quite prevalent.
    - Next gen X3 i guess?
  • Comfort Access standard. Keyfob without it is stupid.
- Will be an option on the next-gen X3.

Misc
  • Offer a sport focused IS model similiar to the 4.8is
    - No info.
  • Continue to offer manual. SMG as an option.
- Manual will probably be offered. SMG probably not unless its an IS version.

That's all I have for now. What would you wish for?
Things to note:

-When I talk about refreshed version i mean the mid-life cycle refresh of the current E83 X3. Refreshed X3 is supposed to rear its head at the end of this year or early next.
-Next generation X3 is when I'm talking about the completely redesigned X3 which will debut around 2010 or 11. Development number will also start with F (it will be higher then F10, since the E60 replacement is F10 and the E65's is F01). It will be derived from the E90 platform, just like our current (E83) X3's are derived from the E46 platform.

If I was the first poster to this thread, how does the thread become what you are talking about? My post is more about the refreshed X3 if there is any confusion.

The bolded exterior wishes you have are already optional

I wouldn't like SMG on an SUV. It'd be the laughingstock of the community.......an SUV with an SMG is just wayyyyy not practical.

I would like a V8 option, 6-speed automatic option, keep the 6-MT, add halos/angel eyes, rear vents, heated rear seats, more soundproofing, and a better instrument panel with the instant mpg meter.

Thanks for pointing out the bi-xenons. As for a rain sensor, I am specifically talking about a rear one. Currently, the rear wiper has one mode - intermittent.

For SMG, I would prefer that over an automatic for the fact that it is a real computer shifting 6 (or 7) speed transmission, as opposed, to a torque losing slushbox.
