Aero packages are standard on ALL current 06MY X3s. With the sport edition, the only difference in the body style is the flared arches (i.e. Aero I). All other current X3s are equipped with the Aero II package. So, IMO, the decision to be made shouldn't be based on the presence or presumed absence of the Aero package. The wheels (18" vs. 17"), suspension, etc. are different if one compares the sport package to the "standard" X3. The Aero packages are listed separately on the BMWUSA website to facilitate ordering by people with earlier models ('04 & '05 MY). To verify this, you may want to have a discussion with your dealer.

Areo Kit is NOT "standard" on MY06 X3. M-Sport Kit is. They look completely different

If you are talking about just the body kits, MY06 in the US:
Standard - M-Sport Kit (without side skirts and fender trim arches)
Sports Package - full M-Sport Kit (with side skirts and fender trim arches)

Aerodynamic Kits are retrofit options for any MY X3
Aero Kit 1 - full kit includinging side skirts, fender trim and step board
Aero Kit 2 - front and rear bumper only

Go with the sport pack. It's something you can't add later.
