If you a car enthusiast, I recommend taking a drive in one of these some day. The acceleration is on the verge of amazing. The torque developed with the gas and electric engine are sweet. You get low end V8 performance with the economy of a 4 cyl. So 21mpg is not so bad. They are not only going for MPGs on this one like they did with the Prius. Enjoy your new ride!
PS Still doesn't ride or go around corners like the X3. |

i avg 14.5 mpg in my car But i am constantly hammering that thing. So my experience is not the avg really. On long trips or when i take it easy i get close to 20mpg. Not bad for 5000lbs and 315hp V8

I could've gotten an RX350 (non-hybrid), but with the $2200 income tax credit (for the 400h), the difference is less than $2000. The object of the RX400h is not just better gas mileage, it is to improve the marginal performance of the 2006 RX330 which it does to a significant degree. It is also considerably faster than an 2007 RX350. The fact that the 400h also gets 8 - 10 mpg better overall mileage is gravy. If you are into reducing air polution, it is a major improvement in city driving. The 400h is not perfect, but it does provide improved performance, improved economy, and reduced emmisions with very little downside. It is still too early to know, but it is possible (likely) that the extra cost of the 400h will be recovered on trade in.
In my X3, we would get a combined average of 14mpg. We haven't finished a tank full of gas yet (after almost 2 weeks), but according to http://www.greenhybrid.com/compare/mileage/ we can expect to get good results after a few tankfulls. So now I get great performance, much better gas mileage, and I'm green.

Been there, done that.......but opted out. Both the RX330 as well as the 400h just didn't have road contact for me. I felt as though I was riding "on it" instead of "in it". Verrry smooooth though.
Not to ignite any flammable objects, but I have yet to drive any Japanese vehicle that has "the feel" ....ya know what I mean?

Very understandable. Although I haven't been in too many Japanese cars (I've owned a 2003 Corolla, 2003 Altima, and 2005 G35c) I see what you are saying. The G35c is an awesome car, and my new Lexus rides like a dream. But now having owned a BMW, well let's just say I will definitely buy one again.

Speaking of MPG ... i checked today for my average mpg since October/November and its 12.3 MPG... sure i step on it alot and do only city driving especially livin in mia but still it seems veryy low to me.. i fill up half the tank every other day.. i feel like my fuel drains out verrrry quickly.. I used to own a G35 sedan... and it would get me alot more miles per gallon than this truck... alott more. that is my only complaint wit the x. im not pleased at all with that. soon ill be paying the same monthly payments in fuel..

Seems a lot of you are getting pretty crappy gas milage. Our X3 has only 2600 miles on the clock. A trip down the hill to Scottsdale and home again will yield 22.5 mpg. If I stay around town it dips into the high teens but still pretty good concidering. We are about ready to head to California. I'm guessing from what I've seen so far that we should see 24-25 mpg without problem. Maybe I just don't have my foot in it all the time but I think the X3 does very well compared to other mid size suv's.

Believe it or not...I think alot depends on where people live...flat vs hilly...sparse traffic versus...heavy...all mitigating circumstances.
