BMW has stop making them. and there are a few still out there that owners are trying to get rid of, as well as 2.5 "Loaners" from dealers.

Some of the early lucky owners managed to get "trade-assist from BMW NA...

Buyer Beware.
BMW has not stopped making the 2.5 X3. It's actually the biggest seller in their SAV lineup. They merely stopped marketing it in the U.S.

trader" started thread he's from Houton(US) so thats and fyi to him..If

two of the many reasons it was stopped was due to (rear axle) issues and
coupled with lackuster US growth.

It's a HUGE reason why there not getting the US market anymore.

It is my knowledge that the 2.5i always sold well here in the states. And as someone else stated it does sells extremely well in the rest of the world.

I can't think of any reason why the 2.5i would suffer from rear axle issues that the 3.0i wouldn't get... But perhaps you might care to enlighten us...

What??? In two years of reading X3 forums, I've never seen anything ever mentioned about a rear axle issue. A Google search didn't turn up anything either. Care to enlighten us and quote your source?

The sole reason they stopped selling the 2.5 in the U.S. was because of preference for the bigger 3.0 engine there (opposite to everywhere else). Basic Marketing 101.

okay...
didn't want to get in the middle of a "flamefest" I just want to offer "trader" some advice IMO , which he requested. I know of only (2) personal issues
having to due with X-3 rear axles (leaking) mileage was between 7k-12k on both vehicles I have no other information personal or documented to that effect.

As for the sales, I also don't have any supported written documentation
so if you say the 2.5 is a BIG seller, I won't go on record to dispute it.
I can only go buy what I see and hear. I don't see a ton of any 2.5's in any sales lot and I have been to many dealers in my area.

"Trader" I offered advice soley based on my opinion from what I saw and what I've been exposed to regarding X3 2.5 if you find the X3 and it is a 2.5
and you like it, and it's a good deal. by all means jump on it, be happy, and I'll throw u a big Congrats.

I never want to rain on anyone parade. I hope it didn't come off like that,
if it did I apologize.
