Headlight auto-leveling functionality check

Hello,

Could someone explain the way of checking if the headlight auto-leveling functionality is working ?

My question is because I use to have a rotate switch inside of the car and from there we can level the light´s, and we can see the movement, when we turn the switch, but now with the xenon headlights when i turned lights on i don´t see any movement, this is normal ?
