I have 'em on my '06 as well, and didn't on my '04. I'm not sure if they're part of the premium package, or one of the "perks" that comes with the '06 MY. The only thing that would be cooler is if they were backlit when you open the door, for example. Yup, I'm never satisfied!

Cool, so, we can then conclude that they are standard after the inital MY. I'm still wondering if they could somehow be backlit.....HMMMMMM........

In the states, I believe the BMW door sills come standard on the 3.0. I had an '04 2.5 and no sills. My friend has an '05 3.0 and it has them - as does my '06 3.0 (of course the only one now available).

Why don't you check out the parts dept. and order some? My '05 X3 has them. I think they just stick on. Or are the sills on the X5 different so they won't fit? I can measure them for you. Just let me know if you want to try it.

The door sills come standard with all 05' X3's and onward...

No 04' X3 had them... standard at least
