Question Cup holder replacement for X3?

Hi all!

My center cup holder has started to peel a little bit and due to fact Inspection I is coming very soon I was wondering should I get to dealer install the new one.

Has anyone done it and how long did it take?

I think, that even this is a tiny part, it may require that the whole center console has to be removed and this may take the whole day. I may just forget the a whole thing, there is only one tiny "mark" in my cup holder. Well, this is not a big problem for me, but I will move back to Finland on September, so I will loose my warranty program of X3. This is the main reason I will try to fix all problems, because service is still free here in the states

ps. BTW, it will be a long trip for my X3; about 6 weeks from LA to Finland. Luckily I can follow a shipment via GSP system provided by my moving company

The cup holder pops right out if you pull up and forward on it. I haven't had any problems with peeling, but replacement is literally a snap (pun intended!) and doesn't require removal of the entire centre console. GL!

Thanks for the fast feedback!

And yes you are right, I just noticed same information from TIS. I attach here some pictures, if someone gets same problem.

Mine was also peeling and the dealer replaced it at no cost.

Now the button of my top storage bin is peeling (on the dashboard where NAV is installed). Seems like quality of the plastic is not too good. I've been in a 2003 Saab and 2004 touareg that also have plastic pieces that peel. Seems like it's not a BMW only thing.

Well, I do not know did I get it correctly, but you can buy several kind of mounts that you can put into the cup holder.....

Couple of examples:

Did you ever find a decent priced part? the part costs $100 in Sweden which I think is a bit sttep. Will see if I can glue it together first (must not look fixed, if so I will swap it if I mess up).
