Not going to touch it....... I'm not going to take the liability of cutting into the wires and removing trim pieces (i think the headliner has to come down)...... that's what the warranty is for.....

Has anyone heard of this problem for other 2007 X3s? I am in the process of getting one.

There are a few others out there on other boards. Most dealers are aware of the issue and have a fix for it. Not a big deal. I'm not sure if the later production models are corrected or not.....

I leased a new 2007 X3 about three weeks ago.

I ordered a Sirius kit from Tom at EAS and installed it myself with only a few issues:

1. The radio initially displayed "Acquiring..." even though I had an unobstructed view of the sky, which led me to believe that I had the Sirius antenna issue. After driving around for a while, the display changed to "Call 1-888-539-SIRI" and I heard audio from the preview channel. It turns out that the radio displays "Acquiring..." while it is updating the channel list from the satellite (which happens whenever Sirius updates their channels)

2. When calling in to activate, the radio's ESN was only eligible for 2 months of included service, not 1 year as promised on Tom's site. I had to speak to a supervisor in order to get 12 months of included service. Caveat emptor!

I've seen this happen with a rookie Sirius CSR, usually a supervisor will have things sorted out. Overall, I'm glad everything is back on track.

Actually, the supervisor said that some ESNs ARE eligible for 1 year of included service, just that mine was only 2 months. I have been a Sirius customer since they launched in 2002, so they were willing to give me the year.

When I purchased an OEM Sirius radio for my previous vehicle (a 2005 ML350), I automatically had 14 months of free service when I called in to activate.

The 2nd Generation receivers (ending in 140) had 2 months free, but these receivers are no longer available. The new 3rd Generation receivers (ending in 377) have 1 year prepaid in the package price.

Tom:

I am picking up a 2007 X3 this week. I am going to move my sirius receiver from my 2006 X3 to the 2007. I need to order the installation kit. The car will not have navigation, but will have the business CD.

Does your place sell the installation kit?

Thanks!

Yes, this is the kit you will need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW

Your CD Changer connectors are located underneath the center console bucket. Plug in the DICE connections and you are set!
