it is standard with all BMWs

edit: i just check the BMW site, and it says it's prewired

edit: i don't see it as an option... but when i had an X3 loaner one time, it had an alarm...i remember the red led on the bottom of the oddly shaped mirror...

i think they do...they've had those red led lights below the mirror for a pretty long lime, and i imagine that a $40,000 car will have it...

It seems like everything is an option nowadays.

Most BMWs DO NOT come with an alarm installed, including the 2007 X3 (I can't speak for the 7 or 5 series). All BMWs come with keyless entry, however. The alarm system is a dealer or self-installed option on the X3, it cannot be ordered from the factory. Self-installation will require dealer activation. You can have the clown-nose on the mirror blink without the alarm, it is a dealer key-programmed option.

You are 100% correct!

Also, for those without an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, the clown nose is used to dim the mirror, just give it a twist.

alarms are dealer-installed, so negotiate this into the price of the car
