I have been to SF, Stevens Creek, Peter Pan, and Weatherford. No X3s for less than $26k regardless of options (unless with ridiculous mileage).

This on craigslist in pleasanton -05 25K 3.0L... I would haggle to 23K or not more than 24K out the door. It can be done. I bought MY05 x3 sports package CPO warranty with 14k on the clock for $30,600.00 from 37,995 last labor day. Good luck

Yeah, I can't imagine the resale value is too good on the X3

Brake pads are covered under BMW's Maintenance plan if that vehicle still applies based on mileage and age. BMW's maintenance plan is only for 4 years or 50,000 miles.

I heard somewhere the 2.5i is the best selling variant of the X3 worldwide because it sits in the middle of engine and trim choices. For American standards, yes it is a bit modest on power (trust me, drive an econobox or a Prius........that's underpowered.) but it's good with gas and in most cases, is enough going up and down mountains highways with a load in the trunk. And yes, I did notice that across the border, most the X3s I saw were 2.5i models. (And they're smart enough to realize that you don't need a 4x4 to get around in snow, but that's another discussion)

At the mileage you provided it is under warranty and maintenance, so make sure you get the window creaks fixed, as they are a common problem. Also make sure if the moonroof is secure, or if it leaks/rattles. Otherwise, that's about it for "common" problems.

Maybe he meant the resale on the 2.5 won't be as good as the 3.0 (makes sense).

As far as resale in general for the X3, they're in extremely high demand and most dealers are crying out for more pre-owned X3's to sell. It has become BMW's third best selling model, and that typically means high prices on the resale market.
