TV on the move.....
Just to let you know I've tried using the iBus interface and the free Navcoder software and works like a treat. Plug in, tick a box and click ok. Disconnect your notebook and TV Works when in Motion and handbrake down. No need to buy an expensive add-on cable. *It is a saftey hazard to watch TV while driving, but at least passengers can enjoy. Regards Rod. |

Roders,
Good to see a fellow Aussie on this site. Can you let me know how you did this IBUS thing everything I have looked at leaves me wondering where to start. It would be great to get some insider info from someone whos successfully done it. I guess what I want to know is where did you get the IBUS cable and where does it plug into. Also where do you get the software for the laptop. Thanks in advance |

Hi,
Great to know there are fellow Aussies here ![]() KiwiJochen on this forum is the master behind the software and he is very helpful and keeps his software FREE.... You can download it from here http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/k...der%20v2_0.zip He also gives detailed instructions on how to build an Adapter to connect to the iBus. But I went for the cheaper options and got a premade one from Rolf Resler http://www.reslers.de/ for $45 Euro's delivered. Then you just open up your arm rest bit, and pull out the plastic tub. Under there are cables which are for the Optional CD Changer. There is a three pin wire which you plug onto the iBus/USB Adapter then run the sofware on your notebook. Tick the Box "TV Enabled Always" and click ok. You can also remove the "I Agree" promopt when it first boots up. Enjoy and feel free to msg me. Regards Rod. |

Thanks
My X3 arrived last night in Brisbane so I now have to wait for it to go through customs and all the other stuff that has to happen before I get it. As for the NAV Coder software I download it but keep getting an error which they detail in the Readme I do the work around but still get the error. I will contact the Kiwi direct to get a fix. As for the cable I will do the same and get it from the online site as you. Thanks for the help. I have a few little jobs for when my X3 arrives Install retrofit Sat Nav Install DICE Code Sat Nav I will post some pics when done |

Hi,
Double check the error your getting, it may be a different file name to the one which is in the ReadMe. Looks the same but different, if it is let me know I'll emailing you the file your missing. (I had that problem at one stage). Good luck with retro fitting the Satnav that will be a big job....... I've done the DICE Install, its best you do the iBus Mod first as it will use the same cable that connects to the DICE. If you need help updating to the Latest Nav software let me know...... One that I want to do is Bluetooth kit mine ![]() Regards Rod |

Rod,
You were right it is a different error I am getting Run Time Error '339' MSCOMCTL.OCX Missing or not registered. The Nav Retro Fit shoudlnt be to bad. As the 07 x3 is all pre wired its just a plug and play affair. If I am having any dramas with the coding I will let you know. Just ordered the IBUS USB Thing not sure how long it takes to get to the Gold Coast but should be around the same time as I get the car. Cheers Shane |

WELL HELLO FELLOW AUSSIES...
i have done the nav retrofit and it all worked well, did not do any coding but im sure it needs it, just not that up with it to be able to do it myself...ive also installed the dice.. my new project is the OEM rear camera and im trying to get a hold of a hybrid tuner... i think the dietz option for tv in motion is the road i am going to take as i like the option of being able to turn it on and off with regards to the video in motion now with these mods done.....whats next. maybe the front camera |

Well r207
It is good to see an Aussie on this forum. What Year is your X3 that you retrofit the NAV on? I have been told by BMW here on the Gold Coast that my 07X3 will have the cable's prewired so that should save me some serious time in the Install process. My X3 arrived on Sunday Night at the Port of Brisbane. I ordered this car back in Feb 07 so it has taken awhile to get here. No the only wait I have now is for the Car to clear customs and the bonding warehouse and the final dealer touch ups. I ordered a Metallic Black X3 3.0d with xenon lights, sunroof, electric seats, tinted windows and a tow bar. The leather is Nevada Black and the trim is the brushed alloy. I didnt like the wood trim. I wouldnt mind doing the reverse cam keep me posted on how you went with that, Maybe some pics of the install and the time taken would be good. Cheers Shane |
