Wait is this true for the E53 as well? I guess it makes sense. Hmmm something to play with later.

I sometimes wish there was a sensor for the rear wiper though. Call me spoiled, but the one speed sometimes just doesnt cut it.

You DO know it's more then one speed right John? You can change it..... (rear wiper) For mine i just turn it on/off a few times and it changes how quickly it works

My X5 has auto lights (adaptive) and auto wipers, when my wipers come on, if they wipe enough (heavier rain) the lights come on automatically

Yea, the manual for the X3 says you can program the rear wiper interval. It also wipes continuously when the shifter is in R (that's neat and cool).

But I really do wish for a rear rain sensor too. Can't be that difficult.

You're driving an '06 X5 with almost all options....yes one more sensor is over-kill for sure.

(Edit. Though youre right...it is just one more thing to break.)

Anyway, you don't even need to turn if off and back on (down and up). Just turn the rotating switch to another sensitive position. I think there's four positions, and I just switch between two and three to turn the auto wipers back on.
Good point! I didn't consider snow, I live in Texas! And thanks for the tip on turning the wipers back on I'll play around with it. We've been having a lot of rain lately.

Ain't it the truth. I thought of something else too. What's it called? Daytime headlights? Where you can have your car programmed to have the headlights on during daylight. A lot of people have this activated and that would negate the need for the wiper/lights thing. I didn't have that programmed even though it would get me a small discount on insurance because I think it's stupid .
