Set The Universal Garage Opener

Ok, I've read the manual on how to set the garage door opener but it's not happening.

I have a rolling code garage door unit so I did exactly what the book said......clear the three buttons........press the button on the garage door unit to send out the signal.....and then press the button on the universal remote three times and nothing.

When you press it three times, do u hold it down on the third time? or?

Very frustrating.

Anyone that can shed some light on this would be great.

Thanks

Press Homelink in the car and hold till light flashes, you've just cleared any codes.

Click the button on your garage door opener unit itself to send out a signal.

Click the garage door opener button (the hand held deal you would have in your car) and hold it down while simultaneously hitting the Homelink button in your car.

I have a Chamberlin Opener, my wifes X3 2007, I had to press the learning button on the garage door opener unit itself then run into the car and press and hold the button I wanted to be programmed.

Go onto the Homelink site itself. They have clearer instructions there under Garage Door Openers.

No, the article I wrote that is on the X5World Home Page is a copy of the Homelink material. I specifically highlighted the info that they DON'T make available to cursory searching. It was only after great effort, and desperation, that I found and tried what worked with my X5 and wife's Mercedes.

Carry on.

Had a problem with someone having the same frequency that I have to open the garage door. They would open the garage door in the middle of the night and I wouldn't know about it until the next morning when I went outside. This happen twice, I was lucky they didn't steal any thing. Any way I have a Sears opener with rolling code so I cleared all the remotes and had to start over to get them to work. I just used the learning button on the control to program them and everything worked out fine the first time around. You press the button and you have 30 seconds to program each remote. Problem solved, I hope.
cheers
