cigarette lighters not working
The front, passenger bay, and backseat cigarette lighters are not working, as they once did. Rear/trunk compartment electrical outlets work. 25 amp fuses burn out immediately in slot 25. Fuse panel lists "25 (33 AUS) as fuse size, but I cannot confirm meaning of the "(33 AUS)" - anyway, I used the original and spare 25 amp fuse that came with the new X5 in 2002. Inspection of lighter sockets reveal no foreign pieces or metal parts out or position. Continuity tester shows open circuit in sockets. I have read all threads in X5world and found no fixes. All of other electrical systems working fine. I hate to take my X5 into the BMW repair shop for high expected expense. Am non-smoker - just want to charge my cell phone. Cell phone charger cables are not shorted out (I tried 3 of them). Any ideas?
Baffled. |

You can use the flashlight receptacle in the glove box. You can purchase an adapter from bavarian auto and it converts the flashlight receptacle with a standard 12-volt outlet.
