Screwy Power Windows

Has anyone experienced problems with the power windows and the auto-trap? Like the window will go up 3/4s and then suddenly reverse due to the pressure on the seals? I've contacted my dealer and they said they've had a few X3s with this problem. It's not because the seals aren't treated because I've already gotten them treated after the squeak/rattling problem. Dealer hasn't informed me of a remedy yet.

Sorry to hear about your problem, Rory. This is your second "issue" with your new X3, isn't it?

We have had no problems at all with our X3, and we even seem to have avoided the "squeaky window" option.

Hang in there, and keep us posted. Let us know how it's resolved.

Juan

I just found the other day that my drivers window squeaks after i wash it, is that what you are refering too? was it a quick fix for the dealer or do they have to order parts?

Thanks for any info, and sorry for stealing your thread.
Tony

It took my X3 to my dealer for some maintenance work and they gave me another X3 as the loaner. I noticed that front side passenger window would go up 3/4s and then suddenly reverse. It happened on my X3 and it happened on the loaner.

I'm assuming this is a normal problem with all X3s?

My service advisor said it might be a problem with the belts that drive the windows. Apparently the older models use the scissor arm style window hoist but the new ones use a belt driven system, which seems to have a lot of problems. Anyways, I have to get it checked out.

Here's how mine goes:

All windows are down
Flip the switches to send them up
Turn off the engine, pull out the key
They go up about an inch, then retreat down about 3-4 inches

Doesn't look bad, but then I hit the switches again to send them all up.
Happens all the time, I can recreate it whenever I need to. Friends think it is crazy.
It can be a PITA when in a hurry

Similar thing happened on my Wifes 3. They upgraded the DME and replaced the regulator. Problem solved.
