2006 X3 Sport Edition Mud Flaps

Has anyone installed these? I purchased them last week and noticed that the rear flaps were a special edition because of the sport edition and cost twice as much as the standard ones. It appears that I have to use a heat gun to remove the rear trim on the back side of the wheel well then install the new mud flaps.
