Hmm Greece.

What is the mediun speed in the city ?
My Subaru 3.0l (Petrol engine) is eating at leasta 18l/100 Km.
My BMW X3 3.0 Diesel ie eating 13l/100 Km

My average speed in the city is 12-15 Km/h.

Yea, that's pretty high. Do you have a manual or automatic gearbox?

We have a 2007 X3 3.0 si, 6 speed manual gearbox, approx 3000 km to date so not really broken in yet. On the highway at 100 km/hr average I have seen 10 litres/100 km on the OBC, (all of this in the first 1000 km), but now with mainly city driving it is sitting at 10.8 litres/100 km, running on 93 octane premium [(R+M)/2, or pump octane], at sea level. We have been gentle with it up to now, and it hasn't been heavily loaded yet. Still, a lot better than you are seeing.

I drove my 07 X3 nearly 3,000 mile (if I recall correctly) San Diego to Montana and around Montana for 3 days. I left SD two weeks after I picked up the car and it had maybe 1,000 miles on it when I left.

On the hiway on that trip it got about 23 MPG at that time around town in SD I think I was seeing 19 MPG.

Now I have 15,000 on it. I get about 24 MPG on longer trips on the road and 21 MPG or so around town.

Never use 98 octane ! It's a lesson told by Subaru people.
Use regular (90-95 octane) and reset the engine values next time when you go to the service.

Woooaaah, slow down now. Using a lower quality fuel is definately not going to help fuel consumption. I don't think advising others to use a lower grade fuel that is suggested by BMW is good advise.

I've driven my X through Europe (Germany, Austria, Italy, Czech ... and even Greece) and have always used the correct octane fuel sometimes risking running out of fuel. Had a few situations where gas stations in Italy didn't have 98.
My 4.4 05 has a 20l/100km fuel consumption. The same goes goes for autobahn driving
The consumption all depends on the driver. If I had the 3.0si, I think I would get a similar milage. Remember, its a big car.
