Question Xeon Lights 2004 X3 facelift

I am planning on doing a face lift on my 2004 x3 sourcing second hand parts from 2006 x3. My car has adaptive Xeons which I would like to keep, can anyone advise if these will still fit, also if i buy 2006 xeons to match new front will the exsisting wiring be compatible.

The headlamps and taillamps on the '04 and '06 are the same and should be fully compatable. I guess the official facelift did not occur until '07 with the new powertrain and exterior tweaks.

The model year definitions tend to be different between US & Europe. The US usually reference a future model year far earlier than we do so I'm fairly confident the OP is referring to the facelifted model.

The 2006 is definetly facelifted in UK the bumpers and grill and back lights are visibly different. Just not sure about headlights. Is the headlight wiring plugs different between Xeon and normal lights? I have seen some on Ebay and they look differnet connections??

I think there's a legal requirement for them to be self leveling too. Not too sure what parts you would require to facilitate that.

He would already have self-levelling as his current car has adaptive Xenon.

I am interested in whether it's possible to update the rear lights - I don't much live the look of the pre-facelift style. I'd leave my Xenon's unless I could get a very cheap replacement set - I think all you get is Halo's - which are quite nice, but not essential.

If you find out about the rear lights, am also interested.

Assuming that the parent means 2004 as the X3 with plastic bumpers and with headlamps with a single xenon light and without angel eyes (mine is from Aug 06), and the end of 2006 / 2007 X3 as the one with partially painted bumpers and with headlamps with double xenon and angel eyes, I'm pretty sure the headlamps mechanically fit, but will require a lot of electrical changes.

I've seen two X3's side by side and the lamps are exactly the same size. I haven't seen the engine zone to see if there was different cables tough

Please keep us informed if you change the headlights.
